REDONDO BEACH BOOT CAMP

About Kyle Rourke

General

My journey as a fitness enthusiast began in high school when I received training in body building from a weight training teacher at my high school. After high school I joined the Marines for four years, followed by five years in the Army. In the military I excelled in fitness.

After leaving the military, I witnessed a phenomenon in the civilian fitness centers, people who work-out almost everyday but there bodies did not change. This motivated to become a personal trainer and I earned my first certification. For the past six years, I have worked hard to learn the best workout procedures and the safest programs available in the fitness industry.

I know that results are achieved by setting goals and applying continuous effort in that direction regardless of life's ups and downs. I believe in leading by example and here are my accomplishments that qualify me to be your instructor.

About Serkan Yimsel

General

Imagine what your childhood would be like if your father is an athletic trainer for the Turkish Navy! Growing up with his own personal trainer Serkan's physical fitness knowledge and expertise developed by living and practicing every day. His high school and college years were highlighted by award winning water polo competitions in the highest-ranking water-polo league in Turkey.

He quickly realized that no matter what sports or recreational physical activities one is performing a structured and well balanced strength training is the key to improve performance and over all well being. His passion to help others to improve their physical fitness, lead him to move to United States and study the fundamentals of human movement.

Training Philosophy

Combining East and West training sciences, Serkan developed his Three Pillars of Fitness methodology:

Pillar 1: Corrective Exercise
After graduating from National College of Exercise Professionals School as an Exercise Therapist, Serkan worked with a few chiropractors to learn how to assess posture and spinal stability. He consults for the Beneveda Medical Group as Movement Specialist and he has been an educator for the trainer mentorship program of Santa Monica Spectrum Club.

Pillar 2: Ancient Strength Training
Serkan believes that training on machines and benches decreases ones overall quality of movement. Also these "modern body-building" styles of exercises do little on our metabolism if our goal is to increase the rate of fat burning. Therefore, Serkan trains his clients with the tools and techniques of ancient eastern training programs such as using club bells, kettle bells, sandbags, suspension ropes etc.

Pillar 3: Nutrition
Based on his own athletic experiences, and the experiences he had with his clients, Serkan believes that nutrition plays a major role in achieving any fitness goal. This is why Serkan studied nutrition and life style for the past 10 years and certified as holistic life-style coach. He also wrote a nutrition book in Turkish called: "10 Misconceptions in Modern Nutrition" published as best seller in 2007.
